Tips for Marketing to Creative Agencies

Is your business connected with agencies in advertising, digital marketing, film, or other creative industries? Let’s discuss how we have (and how we have not) successfully marketed to such industries, who so highly value style and that which may surprise them amidst their hectic day-to-day.

Marketing to creatives marketing agencies — an interesting proposition as they’re obviously aware of common strategies and tactics

A few things that come to mind for me re: positioning to agencies:

  • To your point, their days are hectic—how can your product/service help provide more balance and organization to the chaos?
  • Billable hours is likely their lifeblood—how can you help folks become more efficient with their time? Reduced hours delivering the same, or better, product improves profitability
  • With any business built on recurring revenue, client retention (and potential expansion) is tantamount—how does your product/service make the agency stickier and more valuable to their end clients?
  • Avoid targeting “one size fits all” positions/stakeholders in your outreach—every agency is built and organized so differently, so other than CEOs or Managing Directors, you don’t want to assume who has decision-making power
