Wondering the timeline an email must remain open before it tracks that the email was in fact “opened”. I have read the other articles about adding a picture and all that, which is helpful. Curious though how long it needs to be open before it registers.
I get sales emails that I delete without opening - should show up as unopened, obvious.
I get sales emails that I have to scroll through to understand what is being asked - should show up as open, obvious.
Is there a time setting the email needs to be opened before it tracks back that it was opened? If someone just opens and closes it, like it was a mistake to click on it, or it just shows up in the viewer pane…does it track as opened?
Is the timeline just the time it takes for the invisable image to download? So it could be 0.5 seconds before it registers?
All marketing emails will include a tracking pixel that will allow HubSpot to track email opens, this is crucial for your marketing email metrics. However, for Sales emails (1 to 1) this tracking pixel is included in the email only if you send the email to be tracked. Sales emails are tracked if:
1. You send them directly from the CRM
2. You send them through Gmail/Outlook and select the checkbox to “track email”.
That said, the email registers as “opened” almost instantly: as soon as the tracking pixel loads, which can happen in just a fraction of a second. So, if you click on an email and it briefly appears in your preview pane or on your screen, it may still be marked as “opened,” even if you close it right away.
