# This invoice couldn't be finalized

I’m getting the following error message:

“This invoice couldn’t be finalized.  
There was a problem finalizing your invoice. Please try again in a few moments.”

I’ve tried it for autopayment and non-autopayment scenarios, logged out and in for a fresh session, as well as enlisted the AI agent for help, which had me to check settings.

Hi @DHair1

This error usually comes down to one of a few things HubSpot doesn’t flag clearly:

1. Missing line item associations: remove and re-add a line item, then finalize.
2. Domain/content slug, since you’ve got a custom domain configured, check it’s still properly connected under Settings \> Invoices; a broken connection can silently block the hosted invoice URL from generating.
3. Tax ID format is worth double-checking its validity for the US locale you’ve selected.
4. Record-specific try finalizing against a different contact. If it works there, the issue is with that specific record, not the tool.

If none of that fixes it, I’ll suggest opening a ticket with HubSpot Support and referencing the exact error text - this looks like it could be a backend bug rather than a settings issue on your end.

Hey @DHair1,

I agree with @muujeeb! The error is generic, but can point to invalid info on the invoice, such as: invalid address/country data, missing required invoice data, missing line items, or custom-property/domain validation failures.

If these easily apparent, then I’d also suggest reaching out to [HubSpot Support](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/help-and-resources/get-help-with-hubspot), as they may be your best resource if you’ve looked into all of the above!
