Theme transfer to different HS account same company

Hi

We have an HS theme in our HubSpot account. As an SME, we are on the starter CMS. We also have a UK branch with a different HS and .uk domain, which can’t be used in the starter since it only allows one domain. How can we transfer/copy the website to another HubSpot with a .uk domain?

Hey @SAkram17 at the moment theme purchases are tied to a HubSpot Portal ID (IE account). There’s no way to transfer a theme from one portal to another.

Some theme providers may offer a refund on the initial theme purchase if you are no longer using the initial account and allow you to purchase it for your new account, but this is at their discretion and you would no longer have the theme in the initial account.

If you wish to use a theme across multiple accounts the only way would be to purchase it again on your second account.

If we upgrade the account to allow multiple Domains, would it be possible to publish two separate websites of the same theme in the same HubSpot account?

Hey @SAkram17,

yes. If all websites are in one Hub, you can create as many pages from a theme as you like.
My recommendation would be to create a child-theme per page to have some level of seperation and modification.

Example:

  • main company: child-theme-main
  • branch-company-a: child-theme-a
  • branch-company-b: child-theme-b
  • …

Creating child-themes per company will allow you to have similar look&feel (because they all are based on the main theme), but have individual things like colors, fonts, custom modules per page without messing up the other instances.

Example:

  • main-company uses blue as primary color
  • branch-company-a uses red as primary color
  • branch-company-b uses green as primary color

With child-themes you can easily set those up

You can copy a theme from one portal to another (assuming it’s not a marketplace theme) by going to the Design Manager, right clicking on the theme folder and clicking “copy to different account”. This assumes you’re logged in on both accounts.
However, this doesn’t copy the website as such, just the theme. You’d need to set it all up again in the other portal.
There is a tool for importing your website structure and navigation but that’s not likey to be of huge use to you either as it imports page titles, and meta but no body content is imported.
