# Switch out a header custom module from theme

Hi all,

I’m working on a page that uses a template that is built on the Growth Hubspot theme. The template/theme uses custom coded modules for the global header and footer (I know this because I have access to these modules via Design Manager and am able to make edits to both modules).

My goal is to switch out the current custom modules with other ones. I tried find where I could do that (I’ve looked in Design Manager and have explored the Theme Settings) and have had no luck.

Any idea as to how I can switch out the old header/footer modules with the new ones? Do I need to create a child theme for this?

Hi @JBarram!

Yes, you need to create a child theme from your current theme. Like so you will be able to replace the header and footer with your custom module. [Here](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/cms/building-blocks/themes/child-themes) is the HubSpot documentation about child theme if you need.
