Problem:
HubSpot notifies users about all activity on records they own or follow, including actions they initiate (emails, notes, tasks). This creates unnecessary noise and buries important updates from teammates.
Request:
Add a user-level setting to:
“Exclude activity initiated by me”
Value:
Reduces notification clutter
Surfaces meaningful team activity
Improves usability for high-volume users
Why it matters:
Users want notifications to highlight what others are doing, not actions they already took.
Hi @bsm007
I haven’t come across a user-level setting that excludes notifications for actions initiated by the same user, but I’d be happy to be corrected if I’ve missed one.
I can see the value in this, especially for users who manage a high volume of emails, tasks, and notes throughout the day. Receiving notifications for actions you’ve just completed can make it harder to spot updates from teammates that actually require your attention.
A simple option such as “Exclude activity initiated by me” would give users more control over their notification experience without affecting record activity or audit history.
Hopefully someone from HubSpot can confirm whether there’s already a setting for this or whether it would need to be considered as a product enhancement.
Hi @bsm007, Good, this confirms comment notifications already suppress self-triggering, so the gap is really about the general activity feed. To answer your question directly, no, this doesn’t fully exist yet. Comment notifications already exclude the comment’s own author by default, so HubSpot clearly recognizes the pattern, it just hasn’t been extended to general activity notifications (emails, notes, tasks you complete).
That inconsistency is actually good ammo for this idea: you can point out that self exclusion already works for comments, so extending the same logic to activity notifications isn’t a new concept, just a gap in coverage.
Heya @bsm007 thanks for posting! @Emmytech is right that there isn’t a built-in HubSpot setting that excludes notifications for activity you initiated on records you own or follow. HubSpot does track who created an activity, and there are similar exclusion options in other areas, but not as a notification preference. I would recommend posting it in our ideas forum here – our product experts are always looking for ways to improve!
