Support syncing HubSpot Payments checkout fees to Xero as a line item (instead of invoice‑level fee)

Description

We’re using HubSpot Payments with HubSpot‑generated invoices that sync to Xero via the HubSpot–Xero data sync. When we enable a checkout fee for credit card payments (in our case 2.9%), HubSpot currently applies this as an invoice‑level fee. When the invoice syncs to Xero, Xero rejects it with this error: “This invoice can’t sync because Xero does not support applying fees to an entire invoice in the same way HubSpot does. The sync is attempting to pass a fee as an overall value on the invoice, which Xero rejects. It’s recommended to add any type of fee as its own distinct line item on the invoice.” Xero’s model expects fees to be represented as standard line items, not as a separate invoice‑level fee field.

Request

For invoices that sync from HubSpot to Xero and include a HubSpot Payments checkout fee, please add an option (or change the default behavior) so that:

1. The checkout fee is added to the invoice as a separate line item (e.g. “Card processing fee”), with: -

Quantity: 1

Unit price: equal to the checkout fee amount - Linked to an income/fees account in Xero via the existing Product/Item mapping.

2. The invoice‑level fee field is not used when sending the invoice to Xero, to avoid Xero rejecting the invoice.

3. This behavior applies specifically when the Xero sync is enabled, so that HubSpot and Xero remain in sync without manual edits. This would align with Xero’s supported model for fees and remove the current sync failure when using HubSpot Payments checkout fees.
