I’ve been experiencing a strange phenomenon (if I can call it that) and decided to reach out tot he community after the 3rd time it happened. I recently decided to us Hubspot for my CRM and the test drive was going good until I started seeing strange companies in my company list. The first time this happened, about 25 companies were added to my company list and it looks as if they were all imported. I deleted the offending companies and then it happened again.
After deleting the companies a 2nd time, changing my password to 40 character length password, it happened again.
Does anyone know why I keep getting companies on my profile that I did not create nor import?
This makes it really difficult to become a paying customer.
You probably have the auto-create option turned on and it will create a company name for a new contact. Check that first, If not that, you may have another integration active you are not aware of… if you can look at the origin for the native HubSpot fields it might show the answer for you.

Do you know where to set this optiopn on? I can’t seem to find it. The only thing I can find is at the location is at Sales>Settings>Contactsand Companies.
That is the option I was speaking of… did you turn it off or was it already off?
I just turned it off now. It was on before.

Good luck, bet that will do it… of course now you may get new contacts without the company being created too so will need to watch that and try to enhance that data as well! If this doesn’t do it, feel free to let us know.

why will I get contacts that I did not create? How can I shut that down?
If you have people using the email integration or hubspot extension elements, then when they send emails or respond to emails to contacts not in your system, it will pull them into your system. We see that as a good thing as we capture more prospects and customers in our marketing system over time ourselves.
