VIBAe is a Finnish shoe company whose team consists of a tight group of family and friends. The first pair of shoes were sold in 2020. Their mission is to create a new standard of ecological, ergonomic footwear that is ethically made. As startup entreprenuers, Kalle and Minna got an idea for their brand through a camper van trip, partnering up with Portuguese shoe designer Ludo who considers the shoes he wears on his feet are his way of connecting with humanity.
Audience: People who are looking for an every-day shoe and who appreciate the comfortability of a shoe, as well as the functionality and durability.
Problem: Lack of functional and sustainable pair of shoes that could be worn all year around while keeping the comfortability throughout the climate conditions.
Solution: Through emphasizing the reasoning behind the design choices creates trust towards the brand. By interviewing designers the customers get to look behind the scenes of the craftmanship which creates authenticity. As the brand originated from travelling, the brand has expanded to cities around the world streghtening the mission. As the designs come from personal needs for good footwear (not through trends), it makes the brand relatable and customer-centric. Recently one of my relatives received a call from Safaricom Kenya which is the largest mobile service provider in my country. The caller was very proffessional such that he started by calling out the two names as indicated by the National ID, stating that he was calling to inquire if his line has double registration. He indicated that he is one of the customers service workers and that he is calling to inquire if his line has been registered twice.I managed to eavesdrop on the conversation and with my cyber security background,I knew this could be hackers trying to steal personal identification from my relative so as to steal his money with the Safaricom Mpesa app which is an E-wallet.I told him to verify if the number they were using is official and indeed it was not the official number used by Safaricom to contact there customers.I told him to stop the conversation immediately and report the number to Safaricom which he did.I also told him to inform Safaricom so as to block his number which he did if he has given them any personal identification numbers such as National ID,PIN and year of birth. My relative did that and was able to save money from his e-wallet from being stolen.
Many people are not aware of careless handling of personal identification number online. It is important to be careful on how you give out any information that can make you be identified online or to people who are not authorized.
You are right, this situation is also happening in China. In today’s era, it is difficult for us to ensure that our information is not leaked, so what we should do is to be careful of telecommunications fraud.
