Specs on Salesforce/HubSpot Property Mapping

Hi!

Working through a Salesforce integration for the first time and wow, lot to manage here.

I’ve been working with my point of contact to re-map some custom properties, and have noticed that for whatever reason some of the existing options in HubSpot don’t line up with the naming in Salesforce 1:1. I’m concerned that those values aren’t being picked up in the sync.

As far as remaking them, I understand that I’ll need to recreate the exact naming of the property value and edit the Contacts with the old value, set to the new before I delete the invalid option.

Just want to make sure that I have to do that, looking for confirmation that property values that aren’t directly matching by internal name in fact do not update.

Hey, @Surgical_JMM, thank you for posting in our Community.

You are correct. For Salesforce-HubSpot sync, property values must match exactly, including spelling, spacing, and capitalization.

If values don’t align 1:1, they won’t sync properly.

Your approach of recreating the correct values, updating contacts, and then removing the old values is the best solution to ensure accurate data transfer.

To our top experts, @TomM2 and @DanielSanchez, do you have any recommendations forthe @Surgical_JMM matter?

I hope this helps.

Pam

Hi @Surgical_JMM,

Adding to @PamCotton’s reply, the integration will flag for you when there are errors or conflicts under Settings > Integrations > Connected Apps > Salesforce > Contacts / Companies / Deals, see here: Map HubSpot properties to Salesforce fields

Best regards!
