Hi there, I am new to Hubspot and currently investigating on the contact API in order to pull data for a specific contact from a specific field.

[https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts?hapikey={}&properties={}](https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts?hapikey=%7B%7D&properties=%7B%7D)

This gives me the requested answer for all contacts - but I would like to get it only from a specific one. Would be grateful if someone could recomment what would be the best way to get this. Many thanks.

Hi @TZiesing,

Try:
[https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts](https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts)

/{contactId}

?hapikey={}&properties={}

HI - thx - that works- but it does work with the contact vid only, correct?

I tried with the email address but got an error.

One way to search by email is to POST to [https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts/search?hapikey={}](https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/contacts/search?hapikey=%7B%7D) with a body like:

```lia-code-sample
{
 "filterGroups": [
 {
 "filters": [
 {
 "value": "someone@example.com",
 "propertyName": "email",
 "operator": "EQ"
 }
 ]
 }
 ]
}
```

Alternately, there’s a v1 (legacy) [API](https://legacydocs.hubspot.com/docs/methods/contacts/get_contact_by_email) that can be used to fetch a contact by email:

[https://api.hubapi.com/contacts/v1/contact/email/](https://api.hubapi.com/contacts/v1/contact/email/)

{email}

/profile?hapikey= {}
