These limits should be removed. This idea has 83 upvotes and 44 replies over a 2 year span.
Can this please be addressed and fixed.
The text limit on snippets is the number one reason I started looking at other services that could beat HubSpot. Check out Streak and CloudHQ for their combined ability to do what HubSpot does in a lot of cases. I’m considering making the move(s).
Being limited to 500 characters is extremely challenging, as our last service provider allowed a much greater limit (if there was one at all - never ran into this issue), which means re-tooling many of the shortcuts we have used in the past, and are already used to. In my LoB, my staff spend a lot of time educating our visitors, and being able to have all of the information the visitor needs in one go is ideal; having to massage the existing tools to meet the character limit is a huge time investment/make-work project that could easily be eliminated by removing or increasing the character limit.
Circling Back here - I reached out to our account rep and they were able to increase the limits to satisfy our needs. We shared our desired snippets and their character count for them to see the validity of our claim. Supposedly this helped.
So this is possible - just speak with your account rep and demonstrate the need for it.
Doesn’t eliminate the sense that this limit is completely useless and frustrating.
Totally agree, the snippet limit is forcing me to write the same story over and over again, because it is too long to add as a snippet.
@Rob-NWB That’s good to know, but this seems like a lot of work on the users part for something that is clearly a bug instead of a feature. Personally, I gave up on this functionality for longer blocks of text a while back because I’d pretty much lost hope that anyone at HubSpot cared. I just copy/paste more than I should have to.. It’s akin driving 40 on an open Autobahn in a Bugatti because someone put obstacles on the road, but limits like this are ridiculous speed bumps in the way of an otherwise high performance product.
This is unreal that this has been open since 2017. We also need this for the quote tool so we can include deliverables in the comments section and terms and conditions in Purchase Terms.

Please eliminate this limit. It is a major drag on our productivity that you are not enabling.
We just signed a 30k contract but this is a deal breaker. I can’t customize the Quote Template for the team to add the sales legal terms, I can’t add a snippet to overcome this limitation. This is a serious product defect. What is the point of having quotes if you can’t effectively use them?
Let’s be honest here, you aren’t using hubspot to sell simplistic store line items. You are selling technology or service products that have legal agreements attached to them with literally no way to add them in the hubspot tool.
We definitely need this. Currently, this is the biggest dealbreaker for us with Hubspot

I also realized there is a 1000 character limitation on internal emails. This is a major stop block
3 Years later and still no progress. Simple free tools do this, why can’t a paid version of Hubspot to it as well?
I second this, 500 characters is far to few. So far not one my saved text files (for this exact purpose) has made it into a Snippet because they are too long.

This level of “non customer care” is impressive. I stopped using the Ideas Foum because there is simply no point. Checking back in and seeing this two year old post missing even the most basic reply is astounding.
I was excited to learn about the snippet tool but was quickly disappointed with the character limitations. I wanted to use this tool to send instructions to our clients however, with the limitations I am unable to be as specific as I would like to be.
Found in this thread is the free tool TextExpander (Apple, PC etc) that I’ve been using for a couple days now and it works beautifully. Give it a try if you need a way to manage and use Snippets that has more than 500 characters.
+1 on this - Would be ideal as a temporary solution for the lack of a terms of service section on quotes (I mean really that needs fixing too).
