Shopify orders not syncing to HubSpot

Hello everyone

Our brand uses Shopify for our online store, and we also have a physical showroom.
Typically, our customers book a meeting through our online store — we then provide a one-on-one consultation (either online or offline) to help them choose the right product. After that, they either place the order themselves on our Shopify site, or we help them create a cart so they can complete the payment directly online.

Because of this sales process, we need to sync our Shopify orders to HubSpot to close the sales loop and manage follow-ups effectively.

Here’s the issue:
I’ve connected Shopify with HubSpot, and also installed the HubSpot app on my Shopify store. However, only contact information is syncing — no order data is being imported. Also, all the synced contacts are showing as “Leads” instead of “Customers.”

I reached out to HubSpot sales, and they confirmed that order syncing should be included in the free plan, but I’ve tried multiple Chrome accounts and still face the same issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated

Hi @Jessie61

That sounds frustrating, and you’re right Shopify order sync should work out of the box once the native integration is fully connected. A few things are worth checking. First, make sure you’ve enabled order sync under Settings > Connected Apps > Shopify > “Sync store data,” then confirm that Deals and Ecommerce pipeline creation are toggled on (see HubSpot’s official setup guide: (Connect HubSpot and Shopify (Data Sync) )

This is what allows HubSpot to pull in order data and associate it with contacts.

If orders still don’t appear, the cause is often scope permission or cache mismatch between the app tokens in Shopify and HubSpot.

Try disconnecting from both sides (not only uninstalling) and reconnecting with the same HubSpot Super Admin who owns the connected account. After reconnecting, check if new orders generate Deals in the “Ecommerce pipeline.”

If your process depends on viewing showroom orders or carts created manually by your team, HubSpot’s sync won’t capture those because it only tracks checkouts processed through Shopify’s API. In that case, a two-way sync layer is needed to mirror both manual and online orders in real time. If keeping HubSpot and Shopify fully aligned is essential to your follow-up workflow, Stacksync keeps both sides updated instantly so you don’t have to chase missing orders later.

Hey :waving_hand: — yes, this is a very common Shopify ↔ HubSpot pain point, and you’re not doing anything wrong.

What you’re seeing is actually expected behavior with HubSpot’s native Shopify integration, even though sales often positions it differently.

Here’s what’s really going on — and how Unific / Quotific fixes it.

Why this happens with the native HubSpot ↔ Shopify app

  1. Order data ≠ sales objects

    • The native integration is marketing-first, not sales-first.
    • It syncs contacts and basic events, but does not create proper Deals / Orders in HubSpot the way a sales team needs.
  2. Everyone shows as a “Lead”

    • HubSpot does not automatically move contacts to “Customer” just because an order exists in Shopify.
    • There’s no native order → deal → lifecycle mapping.
  3. No real sales loop

    • Payments happen in Shopify.
    • Sales activity lives in HubSpot.
    • The two never truly close the loop.

This is exactly the gap Unific was built to solve.

How Unific + Quotific solves this end-to-end

:repeat_button: 1. Full Shopify Order → HubSpot Deal Sync

With Unific:

  • Every Shopify order (including draft orders) syncs into HubSpot as:

    • A Deal
    • Line items
    • Revenue
    • Customer + Company (if B2B)
  • The deal can automatically move to Closed Won when payment happens in Shopify.

No workarounds. No manual updates.

:shopping_cart: 2. Perfect for showroom + consultation sales

Your flow is exactly what Quotific was designed for:

  • Customer books a meeting

  • You consult (online or in-person)

  • Sales rep creates:

    • A draft order / quote directly from HubSpot
    • Or syncs an existing Shopify cart
  • Customer checks out online in Shopify

  • HubSpot deal updates automatically

Sales never needs to log into Shopify.

:bust_in_silhouette: 3. Correct lifecycle stages (Lead → Customer)

Unific can:

  • Automatically update lifecycle stage to Customer when:

    • An order is created
    • Or payment is completed
  • Tie revenue back to the sales rep and original consultation

This is something HubSpot cannot do natively.

:bar_chart: 4. Real sales reporting (finally)

You unlock:

  • Revenue attribution per rep
  • Online + showroom sales in one pipeline
  • Accurate follow-ups, renewals, and upsells
  • True LTV inside HubSpot

Bottom line

What you’re trying to do is not supported by HubSpot’s native integration, even on paid plans.

Unific + Quotific turns Shopify into a true commerce layer for HubSpot, which is why it works so well for:

  • Showrooms
  • Assisted selling
  • Consultative / high-touch ecommerce
  • B2B or complex products
