Refrain from assuming your audience knows what you are talking about. I pitched a student-led university fund. We had a great conversation until I asked his opinion on our project. He stated that he was lost initially because his life experiences did not include the data set required to understand it. Such a good point Jeff Nelson - during the pitch process this is something a lot of people struggle with! Educating your audience and getting them to a place where they can understand your expertise is a huge communication challenge! And as a follow up, this student group makes the decisions on where and how the endowment funds are allocated. Very much an outlier, and I will probably never encounter this again
