# Setting a property not editable

Hey,  
I am looking for a way to create a custom property on HubSpot using an API call that the users will not be able to edit it using the HubSpot ui.  
Is this possible?

It’s not currently possible to create ‘read-only’ properties that users cannot edit. I’m not aware of plans to implement properties only accessible via the API, but I would recommend checking out the [HubSpot Ideas Forum](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas) to vote/post your use case for that idea.
