Hi,

I just added a gender field to the customer template. It is a free text field where the user can put values like “male” or “female”, “man” or “woman”. It is fine, but I don´t know if it is possible to display a list of values where the user have to choose the value. This is in order to be consistent with the information stored in that field.

Anybody have deal with a similar request? How did you solve it?

Thank you in advance.
Miguel.

Hi @MiguelAlvarez,

Thank you for reaching out!

It sounds like you would be able to benefit from creating a [custom drop down select property](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/manage-your-properties). When it comes to a drop down select this allows the customer to select: Female, Male, or Prefer not to say. This would allow the customer to choose one of the options listed.

Below are the instructions on how to create a custom property:

- In your HubSpot account, click the settings **settings icon** in the main navigation bar.

- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to **Properties**.

- In the _Select an object_ section, click the **dropdown menu** and select [**object]** **properties** for the object you want to create a property for.

- In the upper right, click **Create property**.

- In the right panel, set up your property:

- Click **Next**.

- Click the **Field type** dropdown menu and select a [field type](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/contacts/property-field-types-in-hubspot) for this property.

 ![multiple-options.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/3X/4/0/4094a8fbad376815bb7d93ce42b4d26fb5868f5b.png)

- By default, the property will be included as an option for fields in your HubSpot forms, pop-up forms, and bots. If you don’t want the property to be an option, clear the **Show in forms** checkbox.

**Please note:** product properties cannot be included in your forms, pop-up forms, and bots.

- Click **Create**.

Once this is all set you would be able to add this property to a form and the customer would be able to select a gender and select as opposed to typing it in.

Best,

@JenWeiss
