Who: API Users

Goal: Create a task in a specific Queue via API
Value: Users can have their tasks into their specific queues without having to manually push them into place

There are many community posts (i.e. [https://community.hubspot.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=task%20api%20queue](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=task%20api%20queue) ) asking for this functionality but no Idea submitted yet.

Within the HubSpot CRM Tasks API endpoint as referenced at [Accounts Dashboard | HubSpot](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api/crm/tasks)

Give option to set a “queue” for the task to go into
For instance if a queue exists at [Tasks](https://app.hubspot.com/tasks/1234/queues/5678)

One can pass 5678 as “hs\_task\_queue” field when creating the task object.

This would be awesome!

@hubspot is there already a plan when this will be implemented?

According to [this answer](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/APIs-Integrations/Task-API-appears-to-have-no-way-to-add-a-task-to-a-specific/m-p/820380/highlight/true#M65669) to a similar question the in the community it looks like this should be possible using the task property: “hs\_queue\_membership\_ids”.

I can confirm that this works when retrieving, but I haven’t tried updating a task with it.

@DorianMcFarland Thanks, that did indeed work!

I’ll note for other folks that it’s slightly easier to find the task queue id by just going to “Manage Queues” then edit queue on the one you want then the id will be available at the end of the URL. And for folks here then you just take the queue id and add it to the properties parameter as hs\_queue\_membership\_ids
