Sending important communication that affects paid services to unsubscribed users

Does anyone have any ideas of how to send important customer communication emails to customers who have unsubscribed from marketing emails in HubSpot? Any workarounds or ways to still send an email with this criteria:

  • Looks professional
  • And also can send to many users all at one once?

Pretty sure this is a very common issue and just curious how other people have chosen to handle this?

Hi @alexagatiss,

If you want to do this from HubSpot, you need to purchase the transactional email add-on: How to Use Transactional Emails to Send Relationship-Based Emails in HubSpot

The next best option would be integrating a third party email tool.

Best regards!

@karstenkoehler , thank you this is very informative. Curious if there are any other (unpaid) potential workarounds??

I guess one thought is to send a preview email to someone from our company and then have them send it directly to the users themselves.

@alexagatiss I’m not aware of any workarounds beyond the one’s mentioned, at least as long as you want the regular functionalities from an email sent like this.

Yes, you can forward a preview sent to a someone at your company, but:

  • You will not have a record of the sent email in the CRM records of the recipients.
  • You will thus not be able to filter in the future for contacts who were sent or who engaged with this email.
  • There is no link or open tracking for recipients.
  • You’re sending an email that is optimized to be responsive across devices, you’re forwarding the interpretation of your email client to contacts.
  • You’re subject to limits for personal emails and cannot use this (see for example the numbers mentioned here) for actual email sends at scale (>1,000)
  • Recipient management would be messy (copy and pasting large numbers of recipients into one field)

Hope this helps!

@alexagatiss As an option, if you have Sales Hub Pro, you can still send 1:1 emails via Sequences.

For Marketing emails, I suggest having various marketing subscriptions so that if a customer unsubscribes from a single subscription, you can still send marketing information via another marketing subscription.

@tverdokhlib1 important to mention that sequence enrollment is limited to batches of 50 and subject to daily limits, also tying messaging to specific senders and a paid seat, and that contacts which are unsubscribed from all emails cannot receive emails under any subscription type, no matter how many there are.
