We would like to send our leads SMS messages directly from the CRM and from the Deal, not the Contact. The Deal is where all our activity takes place and is recorded on the timeline.
Hi @jsto - you could achieve this by creating a Deal CRM Extension and so it will appear in the right hand margin of a deal:

Would this solution involve another vendor outside of HubSpot? We’re on a 14 day trial with Salesmsg, but they’ve been very slow to respond to questions. We’d like to keep our current numbers as well.

Hi @jsto you can continue to use SalesMsg - the CRM extension would just reference their API.

Have you considered using a third party software to solve this issue? Aloware is a contact center solution that would allow you to send SMS inside the deal page in HubSpot which would solve your problem. Any chance you’re free for a demo of our software and how it works with HS?
