Select and display dates in your Portal Timezone rather than your system timezone

This is more of a bug than an idea

When displaying a date property on a record it is set as your PC/System Timezone rather than the Timezone that you have set as the portal timezone.

How this Should Work

Ideal: Timezone can be set on individuals and the date shown and selected is based on their Timezone.
Ideal Additional: Can set timezones for setting date properties or from date properties in Workflows, can set Timezones on Reports.

Better than existing but not Ideal: For all users the date shown and selected is based on the Portal Timezone.

Why this is so Problematic

This is exceptionally confusing if you are in a Timezone that is slightly before the timezone you are configuring items for as it will set the date to a completely different day.

It is also impossible to figure out the system time of the users who are using HubSpot are in to deal with this via workflow.

Asking individuals to calculate this on their side is also not a feasible solution.

Agree. We just had a new salesperson start in a timezone different from our main one (NZT is our main one but she’s in AEST). She missed a meeting because the HS notification was in the NZT not AEST even though I checked her user profile and both her HS meeting scheduling page and her user profile are set to Australia. To be sure I checked one of our UK-team and found an in-app notification for a meeting and it was also based on NZT not the UK time zone. This is a major flaw especially when the UK and New Zealand are on complete opposite time zones.

Yes! It’s terribly confusing and creates reporting discrepancies when trying to filter objects by dates. We recently had an issue with comissions because one deal was closed after the quarter closed based on one user but to another it was right on time.

Our client’s HQ is in the UK, but they have offices from Bangladesh to the US. Not having this functionality is brining in a lot of manual work with date/time values which is not the easiest…

Having issues with this using Hubspot’s “Record Payment” function, as it only allows you to set the Date but Payment reporting is completed in Date/Time.

All payments are logged at <Date> 00:00 and it’s logged in System Time. Therefore the payment date changes if the person recording the payment is +timezone on the reporting viewer.

e.g. A payment recorded on 20th February 2025 will show as 19th February 2025 for anyone viewing from a timezone prior to the person that recorded the payment. You’re also unable to edit the recorded Time/Date on a payment after the fact.

It would be great to have the option in custom reporting to change the timezone preference for date fields to portal settings rather than account default. Similar to how you can change the currency from the account default. That’s the first place I looked to make the adjustment, as far as report functionality goes.

+1

Bumping this! I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since this idea was brought up and there’s still no solution. The fluid date management seems like a massive oversight in HubSpot’s product design especially given the nature of remote and nomadic work in this day and age. Everything (select, display, edit) should match Portal Timezone to avoid all confusion.

HubSpot is supposed to make my life easier, not add a bunch of mental gymnastics to my workflow :sob:
