Hi, I understand that Hubspot gives you a ton of segment choices but isn’t there a way to create your own segments?

Hi @MThomas96,

Yes, you can create your own segments. Here’s a link to the knowledge base article: [Create segments](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/segments/create-active-or-static-lists)

Hi @MThomas96,

I think there might be a misunderstanding. Like @Josh has pointed out, you can create segments by following these steps: [Create segments](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/segments/create-active-or-static-lists)

HubSpot isn’t creating many segments for you out of the box, no. These were likely created by other users or you’re referring to something else.

If you’re not able to create segments, that might be a permissions issue and is recommend talking to the person who invited you to the portal to review your permissions. You might also have a view only seat without the ability to create / edit in general.

Best regardd

Thanks for the information. I will look into it tomorrow morning. I really appreciate the help!

I’m understanding more but I simply have a few contacts I want to add to a segment to send email tests to. Is there some way to pick those contacts and manually add them to a “test” segment?

Hi @MThomas96,

Yes, you could create very specific filters when you create the segment. For example, First Name contains exactly Josh or Karsten. In that case it would only add people in your HubSpot with the first name of Josh or Karsten. You can even specify this by email address. Email address contains exactly: [name@emailaddress.com](mailto:name@emailaddress.com).
