Dear Bérangère,
Thank you for your feedback. There are two separate issues here.
1. Disabling the meeting link
I’m still testing HubSpot on the free tier. I’d like to disable my current meeting link so it can’t be misused. There appears to be an organized group systematically reaching out via LinkedIn’s Services page, and I want to shut that vector down on all my channels as this is how I avoid further headache.
The problem: disabling a link doesn’t let me create a new one. HubSpot leaves me stuck with no working link at all. How do I disable the compromised link and generate a fresh one? This is a system gap, but should be a basic editing feature in ANY plan.
2. Blocking domains
This would be the real fix, but it’s limited to paid tiers (per Hallie’s note, the free-domain-blocking feature is Sales/Service Starter and up). https://community.hubspot.com/t/option-to-block-free-email-providers-from-booking-via-meetings-link/7950
My honest feedback: domain blocking is basic security against fraud or phishing, not a premium feature. Gating it behind a subscription creates distrust at exactly the evaluation stage. I develop systems myself, so I’m evaluating carefully and the impression forming is that I’ll keep hitting dead ends on basic functions and am getting pushed to upgrade for each one. That makes me cautious about committing to anything before investigating even more thoroughly.
I doubt I’m alone in this. Many users won’t voice it, they’ll just quietly disengage or reach out to other apps to compensate for the parts that are difficult in HubSpot. I empathize this is not HubSpots goal at all. That churn is measurable, and worth weighing against what the gate actually protects. Those gaps can be put in real numbers that companies lose.
The broader question your answer raises: HubSpot is a large tool meant to simplify my work. The though I have to fight against is (most probably not only me) how many of these surprises (for very basic things) should I expect along the way and will I be forced to upgrade again and again – and after all I might still end up in a dead end, having a whole system rely on processes that simply are not practical or worse: are linked to bigger friction points? That is a real core issue in conversion, not a small one.
As mentioned in my earlier email: finding these gaps is something I’m genuinely good at. I research thoroughly and dig deep before I build anything - which is why I tend to surface these friction points fast, the ones most users feel but never report or don’t have the time to understand in detail. Judgement runs faster. If someone at HubSpot is open to exchanging thoughts, I’d be glad to explore whether there’s a diagnostic angle I could bring, through my consulting company Sherlock & Gray. Ltd.
Best regards,
Nesrin
