I’ve got a number of contacts that I want to flag for later outreach. How do I flag these contacts appropriately so as to not mistakenly add them to an upcoming sequence?

You could use an existing property like Lead status or a custom contact property to flag these contacts. A custom property could be called Flagged for later outreach, with two options, “Yes” and “No”. You would change this property value, either for each contact (keep in mind that you can customize your record sidbar) or in bulk.
Once you have contacts with a “Yes” value in that property, you can make sure to exclude them from your current list or contact view – wherever you enroll these contacts. If you do it from the contacts home (Menu > Contacts > Contacts), click the More filters option in the center of the screen, search for Flagged for later outreach and set it to “is none of Yes”. You’re now viewing all contacts except the ones flagged for later outreach.
