Hi all,

My team wanted to transition the use of the standard open text property for Country/Region to a custom drop down field in order to limit discrepancies upon input in forms.

The next step of this initiative was to fully deprecate the original open text field so no one would use it. However, the standard Salesforce mapping syncs the country field to the original open text field.

It doesn’t look like there’s any ways to edit that mapping, other than which platform holds priority over the other. Am I missing something or is there no way around this and we won’t actually be able to deprecate it?

Thanks!

Hi @SmartListGhost,

The integration lets you set this default mapping to “Don’t sync”. After doing so, the integration should allow you to add an additional mapping. You’ll see warning that the property is already mapped but you shouldn’t experience any actual data conflicts since of the mappings is set to “Don’t sync”.

Alternatively, but this might not work if the integration is already active: HubSpot lets you change the property type of a field as long as it doesn’t have any references and values. With the country field this can be tricky as it’s often used in many places. Theoretically however you can:

1. Remove references by assets
2. Export values
3. Change type to dropdown
4. Reestablish references
5. Reimport values

Best regards!
