Salesforce - Hubspot Selective Sync Lead/Contacts

Hope this is the right place! We have HubSpot - Salesforce selected sync set up in accordance with the standard documentation. The core criteria in use are a HubSpot Sync Box that must be checked and certain record types.

What I am finding is that if a record is added to HubSpot (via import, form fill, etc.) and syncs with Salesforce, a new lead record is created. Including instances where the email address is present on a contact record in Salesforce where the HubSpot Sync field is not checked. Which makes sense and I imagine would be expected.

However, the ideal would be to have HubSpot look at all contact records in Salesforce and match them to a contact record that shares the same email. Creating a lead when no matching email is in existence. All without every contact record syncing from specific record types.

Is there a way to accomplish this with the selective sync?
