To transfer Salesforce campaign information into HubSpot, you can create custom objects for your Salesforce marketing campaigns as well as the corresponding marketing campaign members.
Then, you can set up a sync in the Salesforce-HubSpot integration to maintain the information, as well as workflows to create any associations, as well as update records in Salesforce, based on interactions with HubSpot assets.
Finally, if you are looking to import existing Salesforce Campaign data into HubSpot, you can import your Salesforce campaign and campaign member data as well.
Before you get started
- Your HubSpot account must have an Enterprise subscription to create custom objects.
- Your account must have the HubSpot-Salesforce integration installed.
- When using this solution, you must use only existing Salesforce Campaigns or create the campaign in Salesforce first.
Required objects and properties
The following custom objects and properties must be created. You can follow the steps in [Salesforce - HubSpot Campaigns] | Step 1 | Set up custom objects and properties to complete the required object, property, and field setups.
- HubSpot: create a Marketing Campaign custom object.
- HubSpot: create a Marketing Campaign Member custom object.
- HubSpot: create a Salesforce Campaign ID custom property on the Contacts object.
- HubSpot: create or check for a Salesforce Campaign ID custom property on the Marketing Campaign Member object.
- HubSpot: create or check for a Salesforce Campaign ID custom property on the Marketing Campaign object.
- Salesforce: create a corresponding Campaign ID custom field associated to Campaigns.
- Salesforce: create a corresponding Campaign ID custom field associated to Campaign Members.
Integration setup
In your HubSpot account, within your Salesforce integration settings, set up the following custom object syncs. You can follow the steps in* [Salesforce - HubSpot Campaigns] | Step 2 | Set up Salesforce Integration Custom Object Sync* to complete the Salesforce Integration custom object sync setup.
- HubSpot Marketing Campaign to Salesforce Campaign.
- HubSpot Marketing Campaign Member to Salesforce Campaign Members
Workflow setup
In your HubSpot account, set up the following workflows. You can follow the steps in [Salesforce - HubSpot Campaigns] | Step 3 | Setup association and update workflows to setup these workflows.
- Contact-Based workflow: this workflow creates associations between Contact records and Marketing campaigns members, and Contact records and Marketing Campaigns. Use the Salesforce Campaign custom property to match for associations.
- Marketing Campaign Members (custom object-based workflow): this workflow creates associations between Marketing Campaigns and Marketing Campaign members.
- Contact-Based workflow: this workflow can add records to Salesforce campaigns.
Import Salesforce campaign and campaign member data
Import data from your Salesforce account to your Contact. If you have multiple campaigns, it is recommended to import by Campaign ID batch.
For example, if your Salesforce contact is associated with both Campaign A and Campaign B, you’ll import the contact twice, each time with a different campaign to trigger the corresponding workflows and create the relevant associations.
You can follow the steps in [Salesforce - HubSpot Campaigns] | Step 4 | Import Campaign ID data from Salesforce to HubSpot Contacts to import your data.
- Salesforce: from the Reports application, export a report of your campaign members with the custom Campaign ID field.
- HubSpot: create a single-file contact object import. Map your custom Salesforce Campaign ID field to your HubSpot Campaign ID custom property. If you have multiple campaigns, it is recommended to import by campaign ID batch.
