Is it possible to set a property value to rotate between contacts without using an if/then branch (similar to the contact owner rotate function), so contacts can be automatically assigned a different property value? So, for example, a contact could have one ‘buddy’ property value, but each ‘buddy’ property value could be assigned to several contacts?

Hi @HCole2,

Just to confirm, you have a property with values A, B, C, D, and E and would like a workflow to randomly but equally assign values to contacts coming in through that workflow?

For example

contact 1 → A

contact 2 → B

contact 3 → C

contact 4 → D

contact 5 → E

contact 6 → A

…

Out of the box, I’m not aware of any feature which would accomplish this. In terms of workarounds, here’s what I can think of:

- [Custom code actions](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/inbox/set-slas-in-the-inbox) in Operations Hub Professional. This would be the cleanest solution but would require the help of a developer. You could embed your rotation logic within the code and place it in a workflow.
- Create a new custom HubSpot user property. Then pick as many users as you have options. In your workflow, rotate records to these users in your new custom HubSpot user property. HubSpot will follow the same rotation logic as always. You can then use an if/then branch and assign A when a contact has custom HubSpot user 1, B when a contact has custom HubSpot user 2 and so on. The downside here is that custom user properties also affect notifications and permissions. If that’s a concern, keep it in mind.

Best regards!

Hi,
Thanks for your response. To give our requirements more context - we would
like to assign an ‘ambassador’ to some of our contacts. Our Hubspot
ambassador property has around 40 values (the names and contact details for
Ambassadors who who are experts and can offer advice to our contacts). We
would like an ambassador property value assigned to contacts on a
rotational basis, so , so that contacts are evenly spread amongst our
ambassadors.

Hi @karstenkoehler has there been any feature introduced for this since your last comment? I’m looking for something similar- aside from Contact Owners (the AE’s which we rotate for ownership), I also want to rotate leads to a property called ‘Account BDR’ which has our list of BDRs. Is this possible out of the box or do I only have the ability with custom coding?
