You made me think about Asimov’s Laws of Robotics: First Law: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Second Law: A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. Third Law: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. 1. I would say robots may process context information better, but I believe what makes us unique is our self awareness and unless there’s a merge between a robot and a human brain I don’t see how that can be replicated 2. I believe robots may process information in the same way, what varies is the time of said process 3. I would try first to define something like “view of the world”. There is actually a 4th law as well which, to me, is the most important: “a robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.” Not causing humans harm merely means they could be kept in zoos and contained while being fed and allowed to socialize and such. Otherwise not sustaining any harm and no harm being done to them. Assuming the definition of “harm,” is understood in the same manner. That is the biggest problem with how we approach things with Generative AI. We ask with assumption rather than with context. So you ask it to be more XYZ, which assumes it knows what XYZ is in the first place and how it should be properly applied, without context. I just hope we don’t allow for true AGI with zero limitations because that’s where we will end up with problems. A robot or agi system like Ultron (which is much more accurate to what it would end up being) would never see humanity as “good,” by any definition of the word. That, to me, is how the whole skynet thing gets started. You forgot the Zeroth Law from the later books: A robot may not harm humanity, or, through inaction, allow humanity to come to harm. This is a very philosophical topic: one of phenomenology, epistemology and ontology. Let’s take a page from Edmund Husserl (phenomenology): we all live in a “lived world”, one that reflects how we see the world based on physical, intellectual and societal traits that shape and form what we see above and beyond the purely mechanical relation of photon hitting cell. Going to ontology: what is it like to be? What is self-awareness, what is the machine equivalent of ego? Epistemology: how do we know things? It is not enough to acknowledge common perception (the sky is blue) but we place different priorities on different things and even have different knowledge of things despite perceiving the same object. I see a bridge from a photographer’s view of the world, an engineer looks at it differently and a traffic planner sees it in another dimension. Hence: 1) We have no definition of Robot consciousness that would shape how a robot sees the world. 2) Is there only one kind of robot? If yes, then there will be more than one way a robot “sees” the world 3) Does the robot have the ability to learn from its environment?
