Response to France's new click and open tracking regulation

France’s new open and click tracking regulation came into effect earlier this week, and now requires explicit opt-in to track email opens and clicks to recipient’s from that country.

It is currently possible to disable tracking on individual email sends, which will apply to everyone in that email send list.

Are there any plans to introduce click and open tracking disabling on the contact level? E.g. if an email is being sent to 1,000 people, and 100 of them have not opted in to email tracking, will it be possible to disable the tracking on those 100 people only from that email send?

In the meantime, an alternate option is to duplicate bulk emails with one going solely to contacts based in France - with tracking switched off - and the other to the rest of the send list with tracking still active.

I would be interested in knowing if there are plans to make this easier.

Hi @EChamberlin8,

As of now, no, HubSpot has not shared any plans. Many users have however already requested this here: Allow per-contact control of email open & click tracking (re: France & Italy compliance)

Requests like these are reviewed by the product team based on their popularity. You can help with that and also direct other users to the request by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate it, too.

Best regards
