Hello everyone,
I use HubSpot extensively for funnel evaluations based on lifecycle phases and have encountered an important challenge:
Initial situation:
HubSpot stores lifecycle phases historically – this means that once a contact has been marked as an MQL, for example, this information remains permanently (visible via the ‘ever was’ function).
This makes sense in principle, but causes distortions in funnel analysis if, for example, misclassifications or incorrect assignments have crept in – for example, due to manual errors, imports or tests.
Problem:
The funnel report then shows, for example, that a contact was ‘ever MQL’ – even if it never really was or only ended up there due to a faulty test workflow.
A cleaned-up funnel is no longer possible because you cannot reset or delete the lifecycle stage history.
Feature idea/suggested solution:
It would be extremely helpful if HubSpot provided a feature to:
Delete or overwrite historical lifecycle stage entries in a targeted manner
Completely ‘reset’ contacts (e.g. to ‘subscriber’ or empty)
Build a clean funnel base, especially when the process has evolved or needs to be cleaned up
Why this is important:
Accurate funnel figures are essential, especially for data-driven sales and marketing teams – if the basis is distorted by uncorrectable histories, reports are hardly usable or trustworthy.
I am curious to know if others have had similar experiences – and if there is a workaround that I may have overlooked.
Kind regards
Lewis
