Resending an email to contacts who didn’t open an email involved creating a new list in the past. Is this still available? Did HubSpot update its platform so a new list doesn’t have to be created? Thanks.
Hi @ABagnall,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
I’ve moved your reply to a new post as the post you replied to is a few years old and may not have full visibility among our community members.
Can you please take us through the process you are currently using to filter out contacts who haven’t opened emails? Are you filtering these contacts by the “Marketing Email” filter in the lists tool or going to the Marketing Email recipients tab and adding the contacts who haven’t opened an email to a list?
The more information you can include on your current process, the better the Community can assist with the next steps.
Thank you,
Kristen
I haven’t had a chance to filter contacts who opened client’s email. I was preparing to stay ahead of the curve. I plan on filtering these contacts by the “Marketing Email” filter in the lists tool vs. adding the contacts who haven’t opened an email to a list. My concern is lots of lists (as was expressed several years ago - users had to create a new list of “non opens” for any particular email blast). I wondered if HubSpot had updated this process for its users.
Thanks for your help!
Hi @ABagnall,
Thank you for the explanation!
Here’s the process I would take to create a list of contacts who haven’t opened an email:
Create an Active contact list.
Once created, click “Add filter”> Search for “Marketing email” and click it > Search for the name of the marketing email and click it > select "Email was delivered to contact, but they didn’t open it. You can add multiple marketing emails to the list by using the “or” criteria as shown below:

Like a boss, Kristen! One question - now that an ACTIVE list has been created, should I change it to STATIC. In this case, the email non opens has been sent only 1X (with no chance except this non open list) to send a second time.
In writing this out, it seems like active can remain, but static would be better if I was using one email with multiple sends. However, since HubSpot doesn’t send to one email address more than once per send??
Oh, the learning I’m experiencing on this platform. lol
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Hi Kristen! I was searching for the same thing and was excited to find this! But I’ve tried creating a list, based off of a past email, for non-openers using both of these ways, and both times I"m getting “Your Preview Has No Matches.” Thoughts on why? I definitley know there are a lot of non-openers/clickers!

to follow up on this topic, if I go to my Email --> “Actions” --> “send to more” and I send it to the new list I created of all contacts who did not open my email the 1st time. Do you confirm that non of these contacts will receive it (since there is a “Preventing Repeated Recipients” option = Contacts selected as recipients for the original email won’t be included in this send)?
so if I want to resend to all contacts who did not open my email I need to duplicate my 1st email (= NEW one) and send it to this new list ?
thank you
