Hi,
I have a private page that has multiple links that go to files in HubSpot, or external sites. I am trying to see if I can track which links contacts are clicking the most but I can’t seem to find the option to build that in reporting.
Does anyone have an idea of how to track clicks or activities in general for private, password protected webpages?
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Bibiana_R,
Thank you for posting to the Community!
I’d like to tag in some of our Community Champions to see if they have any ideas on this one!
Hi @colinwitt @Dan1 @GeorgeBThomas Do you have any suggestions for @Bibiana_R?

Hi @Bibiana_R,
A simple way to track this would be through HubSpot CTAs: Create calls-to-action (CTAs) – HuBSpot automatically logs CTA clicks at the contact level is the visitor is known.
Alternatively, you could use custom events: How to Create Custom Events
You can define custom behavioral events and trigger them when a visitor clicks a link. These events can be created in HubSpot or via the Events API. Once defined, you can build custom reports on these events inside HubSpot.
Generally, if the links are HubSpot-hosted files, file download activity should appear on the contact timeline (if the visitor is known and logged in).
Best regards!
Thank you so much! Will look into these options.
You can track those by setting up custom events with HubSpot’s tracking code or via Google Tag Manager to fire on link clicks, then push that data back into HubSpot for reporting, even on private, password-protected pages.
