The Reporting API (2027-03-beta) handles reading tags well.
?properties=tagsreturns them on reports and dashboards, and?tagIds=filters by them.Managing tags through the API isn’t possible for us yet:
- We can’t apply or remove tags.
PATCH /reports/{id}andPATCH /dashboards/{id}return403 requires all of [reporting-edit]. That happens even with all fourreporting.full.*scopes (read, edit, write, admin) granted to our private app. None of the scopes a private app can select appears to grantreporting-edit.- There’s no tag endpoint. We can’t list the tags in a portal or create new ones. To get a tag’s ID, you have to find a report that already has that tag.
We’d like:
- Report and dashboard edits (tags, owner) available to private apps through a scope they can select
GET /tagsandPOST /tags, plus a way to update and delete tags- Ideally, batch tagging
Why it matters: our portal has more than 3,800 reports. We use tags such as “Up for deletion”, “Low usage – in risk for deletion” and “Verified by salesops” to run cleanup. Reading tags is now scripted, but applying them is still done one at a time in the UI.
