Report on what deals contain a certain line item?

Hey there HubSpot Community!

I am trying to gather some data from the line items associated with our Deals, to report to my team about what line items are most common in deals, how many deals contain a certain line item, etc.

Am I correct in seeing that, I can create a cross-object report on Deals and Line Items, and pull the data this way?

I notice, when I am selecting filters, I can add in certain filters to narrow down the pool of deals I am reporting on. From there, do I add Line Item filters to see how many deals in that pool contain a certain Line Item? For example - if I use the Deal Filter of Close date is after Sept 1 2020, I have a report of all Deals with the Close date after this date. From there, if I add the Line Item filter "Is any of: “Line Item X” ", are the results actually showing me how many deals (within my criteria) contain that Line Item?

Second piece - is it possible to pull a report on a set of Deals which do not contain a certain Line Item?

Yes, by creating a cross-object report on Deals and Line items you might be pulling the data on the right way.

For your second question, yes, it’s by using the filters on the line items that you’ll be able to narrow down the pool.

And for the third question, my answer is also yes, your results on the “final” filters combined might be showing you how many deals contain that specific Line item.

And for the fourth question, if you say your line item is “unknown” you’ll also be able to report on a set of deals which do not contain that specific line item.
