Renewal or Sales Close Date - Do I have to enter before actual close?

Hi All,

We have an internal debate happening regarding Close Date/Anticipated Close Date vs. Term Dates. I need your brains to help.

In my efforts to create solid renewal pipeline reporting, is it necessary to enter deal/opportunity close dates (anticipated) to get the deal amount to register as part of an anticipated month or quarter number, or will ensuring there is beginning and ending term dates do that for me?

Hubspot doesn’t see m to register or attach the deal amount until there is a Close Date entered.

Hi @Coombiyah,

That depends on which reports exactly you want to create, but generally yes, you should fill the Close date as early as you know it or can estimate it.

HubSpot’s forecasting tool relies on the Close date: Use the forecast tool

A lot of sales analytics reports won’t work without the Close date: Create sales reports in the sales analytics suite

Best regards!
