I would like to remove hubspot tasks associated to a deal contact when the deal reaches close won/ lost stage in the pipeline.

For example, when a deal is started it creates a follow up task (though HubSpot workflow) when the deal moves to won/lost stage I would like to remove (ideally) or complete all tasks associated to the deal.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi @CDeMares,

This would currently require an Operations Hub Professional or Enterprise subscriptions and custom code actions:

> **[Workflows | Custom Code Actions - HubSpot docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/legacy/automation/workflow-actions/custom-code-actions)**
>
> Instructions for using custom code actions in workflows

> **[2026-03 API reference - HubSpot docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/latest/overview)**
>
> Reference documentation for HubSpot's date-versioned APIs, introduced with the 2026-03 release.

“Vanilla” workflows cannot update activities and activity-based workflows unfortunately don’t exist yet. What you’re trying to achieve would currently require Operations Hub and the help of a developer – or third-party automation like Zapier, Make etc.

Best regards!

Hi @CDeMares ,
I just found this third party app: [HubSpot Marketplace](https://app.hubspot.com/ecosystem/4630358/marketplace/apps/task-assistant)
It might be worth checking out if that would work for you.
Best regards,
Jess

Hi @CDeMares,

Good news, HubSpot has introduced task workflows!

_Workflows_
_ **Task workflows** _
_November 7, 2024_

_ **What is it?** _

_Users can now create task-centered workflows._

_ **Why does it matter?** _

_Enhance task automation with greater flexibility and efficiency. Trigger automation directly from changes in tasks, like creation, status updates, or overdue notifications. Establish standard, automated processes for task management. For example, alert a sales manager when specific tasks complete or become overdue, or automatically create tasks in other project management tools when you start tasks in HubSpot._

_ **How does it work?** _

_To create a task workflow:_

_From the workflows tool homepage, click “Create workflow” and select “From scratch”_
_Choose the task object on the object select page_
_Choose the trigger based on task events or properties_
_Add actions as usual_

_ **Who gets it?** _

_Marketing Hub Pro, Marketing Hub Enterprise, Operations Hub Pro, Operations Hub Enterprise, Sales Hub Pro, Sales Hub Enterprise, Service Hub Pro, Service Hub Enterprise_

You can find this beta here:

You can now enroll tasks based on criteria of your liking (‘When filter criteria is met’ \> change ‘Filtering on’ dropdown from tasks to deals \> under deal properties find deal stage and specify it) and use the ‘Edit record’ workflow action to set a task status to completed:

If you want to make it easier for others to find this update, you can help them by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate it, too.

Have a great day!
