We’re trying to connect the domain yourdomain.com to our HubSpot account, but we’re getting the error that it’s already in use by another customer. That customer account has since been deleted and we no longer have access. We are the owners of the domain and would like help verifying ownership so we can reclaim it.
Hi @BGDS,
DNS of your domain, first delete/remove all the HubSpot data from DNS records. Wait for sometime, you should be able to add the domain back to your current account.
If it doesn’t work, it might be possible that the previous account was deactivated and not deleted. You can recover old acc. in that case. Remove/delete the domain from it and permanently delete the account this time.
- Recover your account (Form at the end of article): Recover your inactive HubSpot account
- Disconnect domain from Settings >> Content >> Domains and URLs (Disconnect/Delete domain from primary, website pages, brands, email-sending, all of them).
- Delete your account.
If both don’t work, the said domain may be in use by someone else (highly unlikely), if that’s the case here, the community managers can check this and provide info/next steps for it.
If this helps, feel free to mark it as the solution
and give it an upvote

I’ve tried both recovering the account (nothing was there) and deleting the DNS records…to no avail. Any other ideas?
Hi @BGDS, no worries. If both didn’t work, Community managers can help in looking into current state of your old acc. as well as the domain use by any other user. Please make sure to share the required info in private message.
Tagging @BérangèreL and @MiaSrebrnjak for further assistance.
Hi @BGDS and thanks @Jigar_Thakker for the tag.
Thank you for reaching out to the HubSpot Community!
As @Jigar_Thakker mentioned, can you please submit the form at the bottom of this article “Recover your inactive HubSpot account”, that way you’ll get help regarding your account/domain.
I hope that you’ll get sorted soon!
Thanks,
Bérangère
