# Relating activities to tasks

My persona: CSM

My workflow:

1. I get an email from a customer with a question or project need.

2. I create a task from the Gmail sidebar which properly associates with the contact

3. The email is automatically logged to the contact in Hubspot

4. I then reassign the task to a technical specialist

Issue and current workaround:

I need to communicate to my technical resource the context from the email. If I have multiple email exchanges with the customer, there is no way to reference the specific email for context. It requires either I copy and paste the text or the technical resource reading through each email. Sames goes for recorded call activites.  
Benefits:  
It would improve communication betwen the parties. Additionally, it would improve the historical review of a customer. To understand what kinds of requests they made and its related detailed information.

Ideas:

It would be even better if the they could be related from Gmail, but any relationship between a task and activity would be a huge help.

Similarly it would be beneficial to be able to associate calls with task. Currently you can only associate activites with all standard objects and any custom objects.

From a reporting and overshight standpoint we need the ability to able to say that this activity is directly tied to the completion on this task. If a user marks a task complete you have to go to the record and try to find a log for an activity that matches the task completion date which can be difficult and time consuming.
