Provide facility to set "internal id" when a new stage is added to a pipeline

Hi,

The pre-build stages in a pipeline have “internal id” values that are words, and make sense for coding up in an integration (e.g. via the REST API).

However, when I add a new stage to a pipeline I cannot set the “internal id”. An arbitrary integer is provided instead. This is most problematic when a deal-stage is deleted in error and I want to re-create it. (Which is what happened to me)

Many integrations work off this internal-id - we have a case where a native integration needs to work off closed_won internal id - but this is only attributed to one pipeline. If this is not the pipeline you want to integrate there is no way to change this. We can use the API to further customise this integration but the easy fix would be to select which pipeline has this internal_id. It incurs less cost and friction.

Hi @AlisonL, not quite sure how what you describe relates to my proposal. Could you elaborate?

Hi,

I have also had this issue and it is very frustrating. Please can internal IDs for deal stages reflect the deal stage name (as they do for contact and company property options)?
I’ve also had an issue where the first internal ID I saw when making a new deal stage was a textual one, which changed later to an integer. Please can Hubspot not change pre-existing IDs?

I had the same issue…

Same. And given internal values can be determined in custom properties and not the default properties is confusing. Given lifecycle stages are so commonplace in marketing, why wouldn’t this be a feature in HS’s defaults? Being able to edit internal values seems like a no-brainer.
