Why can't I save CRM notes view and edit permissions in HubSpot?

Hello, I am contacting you because I have a problem. When I try to grant one of my new users access to the CRM at the notes level, I cannot save the changes; I can save all the others, but not the view and edit permissions. It says that an error has occurred. I am an administrator.

Hello @LouisMurat

If you have a paid subscription, I recommend contacting HubSpot’s support team directly from the app, via the question mark icon located in the top menu.

This assumes that this user indeed has a “Core” license, right? If not, that would explain the issue: Attribuer et gérer des licences

Moderator’s note: Although this solution does not address the specific situation of the original poster, it may be useful to other community members facing similar challenges.

Hello, no, I don’t have a paid subscription.

@LouisMurat Have you checked the seat allocation, as I mentioned in my previous reply?

Hi @LouisMurat and welcome, we are so glad to have you here!

Thanks for reaching out to the HubSpot Community!

Since the error appears specifically when enabling “View and Edit” access for Notes, the first thing to check is the new user’s seat type, as @karstenkoehler mentioned (thank you!) . A View-Only Seat may provide access to CRM records, but it doesn’t support editing notes. If that’s the case, the user may need an available Core Seat.

As an administrator, go to “Settings > Users & Teams”, select the user, and review their seat assignment and permissions. Under CRM permissions, make sure they have the necessary CRM object access and “Communicate” permissions for the relevant records.

If the user already has a Core Seat, please try saving the permissions in an incognito or private browser window. Clearing the browser’s cache and cookies may also help. It’s also worth checking whether the user is assigned to a permission set that may be overriding their individual settings.

If the issue continues, please share via DM with me the following so that I can look into it:

  • The affected user’s email address,
  • The time the error occurred, and
  • A screenshot or screen recording of the error.

Thanks so much and have a fantastic day! :sun:
