# Private APPs

Can both mechanisms coexist, API Key and Private APPs?

At present, yes they can (providing you created the key on or before July 15th 2022)… however [API keys are being sunset](https://developers.hubspot.com/changelog/upcoming-api-key-sunset) as of November 30th 2022. You must choose to create either a public or private app.
