I recently learned the very concerning news that HubSpot plans to depreciate folders in the email marketing tool. We have organized our clients’ emails in folders for YEARS. This deeply concerns me for a few reasons. First, folders are a great way to solve for our customers and help them organize their assets, but second, depreciating folders will create CHAOS in our clients’ portals.
Views are an inadequate and inefficient solution and certainly are not helpful for all the clients that have their portals built out with folders. I hope HubSpot will reconsider this decision.
I’ve personally dealt with the disappearing folder issue in multiple client portals, especially with our newer clients, and I’m beyond frustrated to learn that this is going to affect existing client folders as well. These folders are crucial for organizing assets that can’t be managed through the campaign tool, and removing them without any warning is completely unacceptable.
The real question is: why are features being stripped from paying clients without proper communication? These clients have paid for their accounts, and taking away features they are actively using without any notice is not only unfair but feels downright predatory.
The suggestion to rely on custom views as an alternative is not a practical solution either, given the limited number allowed per account. What I expect next is that HubSpot will reintroduce folders—or an inferior version—as a paid feature. It’s absolutely ridiculous to expect clients to pay for something they already had access to and are using.
This entire situation is unfair and needs to be addressed.
