Pictures not Showing When Email Sent

I have set up a marketing email, the pictures show on the email on Hubspot and also on the preview but when I send a test email the pictures don’t appear in the email, just the file name.

Hi @jcuthill,

What email client are you using to open the email? Could it be possible that images have been disabled for bandwidth reasons or potentially blocked for security reasons?

This is a duplicate email, I sent exactly the same email a few weeks ago and had no issues. All of my preview emails over the last several years have gone to the same email address and this is the first time I have come across this issue.

Hey @jcuthill,

Like @coldrickjack said, your email client could potentially be blocking the images based on your security settings.

On HubSpot’s end, are you sure that the images you included in the email are still in your HubSpot account? When you upload an image to HubSpot and embed it in an email or page, the image is being hosted by HubSpot. If the image file is deleted in HubSpot, it will no longer appear in any assets where it was used.

You can also try:

  1. Sending the email to yourself (not as a test email, but as an actual send that just goes to you and other team members who can help you troubleshoot)
  2. Uploading new images and swapping those for the current ones
  3. Sending the email to an alternate email address, preferably one in a different email client

If all else fails, I recommend reaching out to HubSpot Support and letting them know:

  1. When you started experiencing the issue (and with which emails)
  2. The device, browser, and email client you’re currently using
  3. If any other team members are experiencing the same issue
  4. Screenshots/preview links for the emails in question

Hope this helps!!

Thank you for all your suggestions, I had tried most of them, I find sending it to gmail and yahoo accounts the pictures show but when it goes to an Outlook account they don’t. I think I will have to contact Hubspot as you and others have suggested.

Have you solved the problem? This would actually be a lifesaver. Thanks!

I didn’t manage to solve the problem, but after a few weeks, it fixed itself, and I haven’t had any issues since.

Sorry I couldn’t help.

So now if you send emails to Outlook accounts they can actually see images? Because for the life of me I can’t solve this. Well thanks the same

Yes, the images just started showing again. I haven’t had any issues since then.

It is frustrating, I tried everything, even contacting Hubspot but the suggestions they gave me weren’t helpful.

@jcuthill I had a similar issue with inbox conversation emails a week or so ago, everything looked good in hubspot but the image didn’t show in the actual email.

Perhaps worth reaching out to HubSpot Support on this one, they were able to implement a fix for all portals on the inbox issue.

I’m having this same issue. Did you ever find a resolution? I’m seeing images in my email preview in hubspot, but when I send a test email it just shows a broken link. I already swapped image from a PNG to a much smaller filesize JPEG.

This is the response I received from support. It’s probably beyond me from a technical perspective so I’m going to work with our developer to help me parse this and see if it helps.

Thanks for the return mail and more than happy to check this out for us!

So it looks like the issue here is the domain being used to host the images and the link-tracking elements of your marketing email. I can see from this page here the domain connected is getproxwell.com. From checking out this URL it brings me to this page here.

This looks to be an external page from HubSpot. Is this domain used elsewhere? If so, domains can only be connected to host content in one location at a time which is most likely why we’re seeing this error occur.

Are you connecting domains to HubSpot for content hosting or for tracking? A subdomain would be required to connect HubSpot to your main external site. Once this is connected and fully verified, then we’ll see the email images displayed correctly and the click tracking domains set from this page here functioning correctly.

If you do wish to have the root domain connected to HubSpot with the www. subdomain connected externally, you would need to remove the redirect that’s currently in place to direct traffic from the root to www. to allow this connection to remain.

I hope the above helps to clarify your query however if I’ve missed anything or should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let me know! I’m more than happy to assist.

Hi, I am facing the same issue. kindly let me know the solution.

I didn’t manage to solve the problem, but after a few weeks, it fixed itself, and I haven’t had any issues since.

Sorry I couldn’t help.

@BRehman can you check that your image via Files to verify that it is set to public or public-noindex and not private?

Where do you find Access & URLs? I am having this exact issue. I took a hubspot template and changed 1 of the many images in the email template. When I send the test image, only the image I replaced does not display. All other images display. So it’s not an email client issue.

Hi @rnischwitz Access & URLs is one of the options that opens in the sidebar when you’ve clicked on “details” for a file:

the sidebar opens on the right:

Hi. I’m having this problem with my email images not showing again. I’m doing a test send in particular.

It looks like it’s intermittent - eg a test I did a month ago (while on free trial) the images showed. Today (on paid account) they don’t appear and I get the broken image icon and the alt text.

For some emails my email client (gmail in this case) thinks is spam, there’s an option to show images. Not in this case, just the image is a dead link. Looks terrible and no clickable action from my email to try and see the image.

The image files are definitely ‘Public - no index’ so that’s not the problem.
This is concerning. Many of my recipients might be seeing dead links to images as well and I have no way of knowing - just that it looks really unprofessional.
Can you tell us what we need to be doing to be certain our images are showing in most email clients?

Thanks in advance. Ben
