I know there are a few other posts about Automatic Phone Number formating. Given that there is not such a feature yet, which I strongly encourage Hubspot to add - I would like to suggest a Batch Update Capability for Phone Number Formatting.
We have records that are formatted in a variety of different ways, which is annoying. It would be great to batch select all the records and edit the property for the formatting. I envision in the edit, that when “all records” are selected plus ta phone property is selected, that the Edit presents a format dropdown allowing you to update the format only and allows you to select the format you want ie: 999-999-99999 or (999)-999-9999 or 1+999-999-9999 I think you get the idea…
Thanks
Hey @SFurse,
Yes phone number formatting is a common and very complex issue. There are many formats that a phone number can take as you pointed out, then there are issues such as the separators used (spaces, dashes, periods, etc.) and country codes, extensions, etc. But it’s important that they are formatted consistently for readability and connections with integrations such as autodialers.
Full disclosure, I work for Insycle as a product marketer. But Insycle has deep phone number formatting features that I think would be help for your situation. Here are a few bullet points:
- Insycle offers numerous default templates that allow you to automatically format phone numbers for popular formats, including the E. 164 international standard.
- You can also build custom phone number formatting templates to meet specific needs.
- You can easily add prefixes such as country codes or extensions to existing numbers.
- Insycle can also remove all non-digits (separators like dashes, spaces, periods, stars etc.) from phone numbers, essentially wiping the slate clean and stripping the phone number down to its raw digits, so that you can reformat them how you would like and define any separator of your choosing
- Your phone number formatting templates can be scheduled to run automatically on a set schedule, or even added to a HubSpot workflow, so that phone number formatting happens immediately after data hits your database.
Hope that is helpful! Have a good day!
