It really is helpful if there is an option in hubspot that would make the phone number as a unique identifier, not all companies are based on emails, sometimes they based on phone numbers. This is a very big help to avoid any duplicates. Thanks
Totally agree!

Yep, email as primary id isn’t feasible any longer
Ufff, absolutely. Some companies doesn’t use mailing to talk with their audiences.
Great idea! I think it would also be great to add this property in the “Manage duplicates” part as is currently done in Contacts and Companies.
I totally agree with that! Especially with Salvador´s comment: “(…), it would also be great to add this property in the “Manage duplicates” part as is currently done in Contacts and Companies.”
The lack of this option is proving to be a costly blocker
Much more suitable for b2c
It is better than having only one option, but I still find it not enough. I want to explain our case:
In our app, a single user (an email) can have several profiles. Once registered he can have PROFILA_A, PROFILE_B and so on… From the point of view of Hubspot we want to treat each profile differently as workflows, properties, etc are different.
This is why I suggest to make the unique identifier a free field that every app can define. In our case the identifier could be something like:
{email}_{profile_id}
Email or phone isnt enough…
We need this really bad. Think about it HubSpot, whenever you call customer support for any service you pay for, everybody asks for a phone number. Many people don’t want to provide their email address because they worry about getting spam. We lose customers because we can’t book an appointment without an email address and they get mad about it. This is a must-have for B2C

Most people could really use this. Here is a great example why:
We have a workflow that creates daily call tasks once a customer asks for an estimate on their home project. A customer calls us back and decides not to book an estimate with us. The call outcome triggers a workflow which removes the customer from our calling list so that we don’t keep calling them. If they don’t want to schedule an estimate, they don’t want to give us their e-mail address because there is no reason. As a result we can’t remove the contact from the workflow that creates call tasks because we couldn’t gather their e-mail, and we end up still calling the customer even after we spoke. It is only appropriate to ask people “can I get your phone number in case we get disconnected”, not “can I get your e-mail address in case we get disconnected”

This 100% I understand Hubspot is an email service however some flexibility for customers who utilize hubspots other features should be available no?
Agree we need this for both phone and email! A lot of our leads come in by phone.
Would be ideal. Salesforce do it so why can’t HubSpot. It’s crucial really.
This is really a basic feature of even simple platforms like GoHighLevel.
It’s 2025 HubSpot, 89% of customers prefer to communicate with text message. And text message uses a phone number, not email.
