Personalization tokens not showing up when applying template to contact draft email

Hi,
I’ve been having this problem for a few days now where the personalization tokens refuse to show up when I apply a template to an email I’m writing to a client. There’s not even a formula like “{{ contact.firstname }}” left behind or something; just an empty, awkward space.
I’ve tried making a new template and removing/re-adding personalization tokens--which seems to have worked for last time--but it was honestly all trial-and-error guesswork that I couldn’t tell you what exactly fixed the issue then.

I’ve included a screenshot of both the template normally and the template when viewed from a draft email in a contact profile. I’ll add any info that’s needed or I’ve forgotten to mention, but I hope we can find a solution soon as it’s really a lot of work to fill in the details manually, instead of, oh I don’t know, the templates actually doing their job.
Thanks in advance!

Template when applied to email:

@ZChaabane I’m going to start by asking the obvious question - are these properties all filled in for the contact you’re sending to? Typically it only returns a blank space if the property itself is blank.

Are you emailing from a deal, or directly from the contact record? If the contact isn’t properly associated, that could also cause an issue - like if you add the template before the recipient if you’re on a deal record.

Could you try a snippet with the same personalization tokens and see if you can get them working? I’m curious if it is all personalization tokens or tied only with templates.

Hi @Jnix284, thanks so much for the reply.
Yes, all those properties are all filled in the contact’s record/profile (first name, contact owner, and contact holder). I used to email from the contact record directly, but using the template to make an email from a deal instead produces the same conclusion, unfortunately.
However, I did try copy-pasting the template into a snippet as you suggested and, after filling in the personalization tokens, saving the snippet, and entering the snippet into the email, I can safely say that it works perfectly with all properties filled-in as intended. This does lead me to wonder why the template refuses to autofill the properties yet producing a snippet does the same job near-instantly, but I’m very happy that I was able to reach the desired conclusion nonetheless.
Regardless, thank you so much for your time and for the swift and informative reply! I really appreciate it.

Hi @ZChaabane happy to help, and glad to hear you could create your template in a snippet.

I am still curious what might be happening with the template. Have you tried creating a brand new one to see if any other personalization tokens are working in templates?

The biggest difference with Templates and Snippets is that snippets are limited to 500 characters or less and the fact that you can capture data about your templates like opens, clicks, replies that you can’t do with Snippets.
