Persistent 404 Errors in Google Search Console Despite Resolving Issues

I’m encountering an issue with 404 errors in Google Search Console that I need some assistance with. Here’s the situation:

1. We had over 500 pages on our website that initially gave 404 errors.
2. We meticulously fixed these errors one by one, ensuring that the pages were functioning correctly.
3. We initiated a new validation process in Google Search Console to confirm the issue resolution.

However, here’s the puzzling part: When I check the individual pages that previously gave 404 errors, I do not receive any errors, as expected, because we have fixed all the issues on these pages. But when I review the report from Google Search Console, it still shows 404 errors for the same pages.

I’m perplexed as to why it’s reporting errors on pages that we’ve verified are functioning correctly. Have any of you encountered a similar situation or have ideas on why this discrepancy might be occurring?

Any insights, suggestions, or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. I’m eager to resolve this issue and ensure our website’s SEO health is accurately reflected in Google Search Console.

I need to preface this by saying I am not a Google expert, but here is what I think is happening.

So Google indexed your site and 500 pages had 404 errors.

You fixed those errors, but you need to tell Google to reindex your site. From what I understand, there is no specified interval for reindexing of pages, so the best course of action is to “force” a reindexing so Google has up to date information.

Thank you for your response. However, even after the necessary changes were implemented, all pages underwent reindexing twice, and there have been no alterations in the report.
