I’m looking at one of my campaigns and I’m seeing I have Other Campaign as the Source, but then I’m seeing other that have Paid Social and Paid Search as the Source.
For paid, we always select Other Campaign and then add our own utm_source.
My questions are:
1. How can I pull a report showing me which tracking links have source as Paid Social or Paid Search (I tried pulling a report and filtering the utm_source to equal those values (ex: “paid social” and “paid-social”), but nothing came up.
2. Would there be any reason where I have a tracking link with the Source was Other Campaign, but they somehow got mixed into the Paid Social/Paid Search source buckets?
If you have your ad accounts and social accounts connected to HubSpot, they should be automatically appending your URLs with the respective UTMs. Otherwise, UTMs that you set on your end will funnel traffic into the “Other Campaigns” bucket if they don’t match the specifics from that HubSpot Knowledge Base article.
HubSpot will store additional source info within the “Original source drill-down 1” (typically shows the channel) and “Orignal source drill-down 2” (typically shows the campaign name) contact properties (more info in this HubSpot Knowledge Base article). You can check out those properties for additional source tracking info.
You can track traffic however you’d like in HubSpot, but the default source reports that pull from “Original Source” will follow the rules above. You just need to make sure you’re consistent with HubSpot if you’re relying on those reports!
