While building reports I have noticed that these two option do not always show as available::
- sort data descending/ascending
- show comparison to last year
when those two are available and when they are not?

Could you share an example of a report where you’re not seeing it?
Generally, those fields must be added in the visualization (e.g. as a column in a table) for there to be the option to sort.
