A user recived a notification via email that User Admin commented on a activity. The comment was an @ to another user, to notify them of recent activity that they were not previously a part of.

Did the user receive the email because they were previously @ metnioned in the orginal activity? Is there a way to remove email notfications when others are @ mentioned?

Hi @ALodyga,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

I wanted to refer you to this [help article](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/how-do-i-mention-someone-in-the-crm#:~:text=In%20HubSpot%2C%20you%20can%20log,mention%20someone%20on%20an%20activity.) which explains how notification mentions work in HubSpot.

It says that the mentioned user will receive a notification based on their [notification preferences.](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/settings/how-to-set-up-user-notifications-in-hubspot)

I hope this helps!

Best,

Kristen

Yes, I read those. This is not telling me explicitly how to ensure my users can set up their preferences so that they don’t receive an email when another user mentions someone other than them on a note.

Scenario:

A note was created by User A. In that note User A used the @ mention on User B.

In the comment section User C then @ mentions User D.

User B received an email that User C mentioned User D.

That is not an alert that User B would like to receive because it doesn’t have anything to do with them.

Hi @ALodyga,

Thank you for your feedback.

As the notification preferences are set on a personal level, I would recommend connecting with [HubSpot Technical Support](http://help.hubspot.com/), as Support is included in your subscription and the team has tools to assist you with this matter.

I would recommend including screenshots of this scenario (the comment sections) and screenshots of the users preferences who are receiving these notifications.

Thank you,

Kristen
